Privacy policy

This page explains what personal data AI Blog (dailyianews.com) collects, why, on what legal basis, which providers process it, how long it is kept and how you can exercise your rights. It describes what the site does today.

Who is responsible

The controller of your personal data is the owner of this website, identified in the Legal notice. For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights, write to editorial@dailyianews.com.

What data we collect and why

The site has no user accounts. It only processes personal data in these cases:

  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address, the language of the page you subscribed from, and the dates you asked to subscribe, confirmed your subscription and, if you do, unsubscribed. We first email you a link to confirm (double opt-in): you are only subscribed once you follow it. After that we use your address only to email you the newsletter in that language: a weekly digest of the articles published that week (or, if we switch to it, an email for each new article). We record which weekly digest has been sent to each address, so that no one gets the same digest twice. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe. An email may include one message from a sponsor, always labelled as sponsored: sponsors receive no data about you, and we do not use your data to choose the message. To prevent abuse of the form, we also record how many confirmation emails your address has received in the last day, and send no more than three.
  • Ask Ivy: if you ask a question under an article, we store the name you enter, your question and the date you asked it. They are published under the article, visible to everyone, with Ivy’s answer. To write the answer, your name and question are sent, with the article text, to an AI model of Anthropic. Do not include personal information you do not want to be public.
  • Analytics: only if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 collects data about your visit (pages viewed, whether you subscribed through a newsletter form and which one, approximate location, type of device and browser, how you reached the site) through cookies, to count visits and learn which content is useful. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
  • Affiliate links: some links to AI tools may be affiliate links (their address starts with dailyianews.com/go/ and the page says so at the top; see the editorial policy). When you follow one, we record which tool, from which article and in which language, and when, to count the clicks of each program. Nothing that identifies you is recorded: no IP address, no browser identification, no cookie. You are then sent to the tool’s website, which has its own privacy policy and may use its own cookies to know that you came from us.
  • Server logs: like any website, our hosting provider receives technical data with every request (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser identification) and keeps it in logs used to run the site, fix errors and protect it against abuse.
  • Preferences: your language and your cookie choice are kept in cookies, and your colour theme in your browser’s local storage. They are not used to identify you; see the cookie policy.
  • Messages: if you write to us, we use your email address and your message to reply.

We do not sell personal data, do not use it for advertising and do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Legal basis

  • Your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): newsletter, Ask Ivy questions and analytics cookies. You can withdraw it at any time, without affecting earlier processing: unsubscribe from the newsletter, change your choice in the , or ask us to delete a question.
  • Our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website and in answering you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): server logs and replies to your messages.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter: while you are subscribed. A subscription that is never confirmed is deleted within about 5 weeks of the last confirmation email (the clean-up runs weekly, 30 days after that email). When you unsubscribe, your address is marked as unsubscribed and receives no more emails; it is kept as a record of your choice until you ask us to delete it. The record of the weekly digests sent to you is deleted together with your address.
  • Ask Ivy questions: until you ask us to delete them. They are shown under the article while it is online; if the article is taken down, they are no longer shown but stay stored.
  • Analytics: for the data retention period set in Google Analytics (14 months at most). The cookies expire as described in the cookie policy, or earlier if you withdraw your consent.
  • Server logs: for the limited period set by our hosting provider.
  • Messages: as long as needed to deal with your request.

Who processes your data

These providers process data on our behalf, under their data processing terms:

  • Vercel (United States): hosting of the website, and its server logs.
  • Neon (United States): the database that stores newsletter subscriptions and Ask Ivy questions, hosted in the United States (AWS, us-east-1 region).
  • Resend (United States): sending of the newsletter emails and of the confirmation emails.
  • Google (Ireland and United States): Google Analytics, only with your consent.
  • Anthropic (United States): the AI model that writes Ask Ivy’s answers from your name and question. Anthropic’s models also write the articles, which involves no reader data.

We do not share personal data with anyone else, unless the law requires it.

International transfers

Several of these providers are in the United States, and the database is hosted there. These transfers rely on the European Commission’s adequacy decision for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for providers certified under it, or on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission and included in the providers’ data processing terms.

Links to other websites

The articles link to other websites, mainly their sources, and some links may be affiliate links (see above). Those websites have their own privacy policies, and what they do with your data when you visit them does not depend on us.

Your rights

You can request access to your personal data, its rectification or erasure, the restriction of its processing and its portability, and object to its processing. You can also withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise these rights, write to editorial@dailyianews.com saying which right you want to exercise. We may ask you to confirm that the data is yours, for example by writing from the subscribed email address. We will answer within one month.

If you believe your data has not been handled properly, you can lodge a complaint with a data protection authority; in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (www.aepd.es).

Changes to this policy

If what the site does with personal data changes (for example, if it starts showing ads), this policy will be updated before the change and the date at the top will change.
